About the workplace
Norrbottensmusiken is a county institution within Region Norrbotten and is active in all 14 of the county’s municipalities. The institution is home to the organizations Norrbotten NEO, Norrbotten’s Chamber Orchestra, Piteå Chamber Opera and Norrbotten Big Band. Norrbottensmusiken also has an extensive program for children and youth, partly in the form of school concerts with our own and freelance artists and ensembles, but also in the form of youth ensembles, such as the girls’ youth choir Arctic Light, Norrbotten’s Youth Symphony Orchestra and Arctic Youth Jazz Orchestra. Norrbotten NEO is Sweden’s only full-time ensemble for new music, and in addition to their work in the region, the ensemble tours nationally and internationally. The ensemble has a close collaboration with both established composers and composition education, and regularly commissions music from Swedish and international composers. Norrbotten NEO’s seven musicians are also the chairs of their respective sections in Norrbotten’s Chamber Orchestra and take part in Piteå Chamber Opera’s productions. The chamber orchestra and chamber opera productions occur over 6-8 weeks per year.
This position involves participating as cellist in productions with Norrbotten NEO, Norrbotten’s Chamber Orchestra and Piteå Chamber Opera. Soloist assignments, CD and radio recordings and Masterclasses are also a part of the work you will do. As an employee of Norrbotten Music you will also participate in workplace get-togethers and other meetings related to day-to-day operations. To be able to participate fully in Norrbotten’s musical life we consider it favourable that you, the applicant, contemplate moving to the region.
You are a professional musician trained at a college of music or the equivalent and have considerable experience playing chamber music and new music.
